Cell Phones

So here is the deal, it is time that we as a people rise up from the ashes and start sticking it to all the cell phone companies out there.  I mean come on, it is stupid that we have to pay so damn much money just to buy the things and use them, but then we have to pay all the little hidden costs.  Go over your minutes....pay extra., text to many people...pay extra, look for a ring-tone that they tell you, you can do on your phone....pay extra.  Enough is enough.

The wife has decided she doesn't want her blackberry phone anymore, so we go in and talk to the folks about it, and what do they say?  "I'am sorry you can not get a different kind of phone without giving us your soul." I ask them, "So why is it that if I want to upgrade my phone that I have to first BUY a new phone, second pay $30.00 to allow them to upgrade it, and then lose my $100.00 credit that they say I have coming to me in March?  So do the math here, average price of a new phone=$100.00, + $30.00 to allow upgrade, + losing $100.00= $230.00 just to get the damn thing.  Then I have to sign another 2 year aggrement, which means that I am stuck with this phone for 2 more years.  WOW!!!!

So I ask the guy, "Do you have a home phone?"... and he knew what I was getting at.  "UMMMMM, NO"  I call bull on that one.  He knows what I was gettting at.

I mean it people, it is time we stop letting the cell phone people rape us with all of this.  Why can't it be, if you want a new phone, you go in and buy the damn thing and they just turn it over to ya, just like when you want to get a new home phone....walk into the store....buy it...go home plug it in and HOLY SHIT IT WORKS...no hidden fees, no contracts you have to sign, nothing. Just a brand new phone that you are happy with.

I am thinking what someone needs to do, is invent a time machine, travel back in time and tell our founding fathers of this great country of ours to write something in that great piece of paper that everyone knows of, that tells "future cell phone providers." to allow changes to phones and plans without pressure or tyranny from them.

Well, I will stop with this, but I do think that something needs to be done.  It is not like the cell phone companies out there are not making enough money as it is.  Time for them to give some of that back to us.  Lets all work on "Sticking it to the cell phone man" and do it soon.

A long time coming

Ok, I know I have gone months at a time without posting something on here, and I know nobody cares.  But guess what, I care.  I need to try and stay on top of this thing more, and I am going to make a goal to do just that.  My beautiful wife has started a blog, and if anyone cares to see it, well just go ahead and take a look at it one day.  She is also a co-writer I guess you could call her, on another blog.  (I hope I have attached both of these blog sites to mine. if I messed up and didn't get them on there, and you want to see them. let me know)

A real quick rundown on what has happened.  I am going to give you the Readers Digest version here.  I continue to work for Jefferson County Sheriffs Office.  And I was just put out in a new area.  I am the new West Side Guy.  (And the shoes I am filling are huge, and I hope I can compare to the West Side God 275 one day.)  Alright there you have it, the short and sweet version.

So I was thinking one day, and maybe some of you can help answer this question for me...... What makes a Cop, a Cop?  This is something I think all of us will share similar interests, but also have a different point of view.  That is what I would like to hear from you.  So really, what makes a Cop, a Cop?  Let me share a little story with you about what made me want to do this and be a cop.   A long long time ago, I was sitting next to one of my really good buddies, (who I have not talked to in a really long time, and I need to call him. you know who you are Alan) on a school bus.  We were heading home from a day of learning.  Well, the very last thing we had that day was a Hunters Ed teacher who came in and talked to us and told all of us that wanted to go to his class on what we needed to do.  After he was done talking to us and as we were leaving for the day, he gave each of us a hunting magazine.  Nothing great, just a regular magazine.  As I was on the bus sitting next to my buddy, I was going page by page through said magazine, looking at all the cool pictures in it, and I came across a picture of a Cop.  He was standing next to his patrol car.  It was an ad for his hand gun.  Again, nothing special.  But to me, well, that was the most awesome thing I had seen.  I had seen hand guns in the movies, but nothing ever like this one.  I read what the ad said, the ad said that Law Enforcement Agencies where switching to this hand gun....I wanted that gun!!! And I knew the only way I was ever going to be able to have that gun was to become a Police Officer.  That is where the fire started to burn inside of me.

So back to my question. What makes a Cop, a Cop?  Is it the badge and gun? Is it the cool lights on top of his vehicle, or the cool uniforms?  No!!! That is my answer.  None of the above.  To me, a Cop is someone who cares.  Someone willing to go out day after day and put his life on the line for people he doesn't even know.  A Cop is someone who is willing to work the long hours for the crappy pay.  The sleepless nights because you just had to go and tell some parents that their baby boy or girl was in an accident and would not be coming home.  A cop is someone willing to put certain values to the side for the benefit of everyone else around him.  A cop is someone who is willing to have people hate him for doing what he does, and listen to them yell and curse him because they think it should be done a different way, all while not wearing his emotions on his sleeve and staying professional.  A Cop is someone who is willing to run into a gun fight, knowing that he may not walk out of it, and may never see his wife/husband and kids again.  The list goes on and on.

So to me, a Cop is not your everyday person.  Cops, (don't get me wrong here, good Cops.) are a cut above the rest.  I am not saying that Cops are better than anyone else, because they are not.  Cops have their own problems they have to deal with and their own crosses to bear.  What I am saying here, is Cops are a special type of person.  I would like to hear your thoughts on it.  What makes a Cop, a Cop to you?  I only hope that one day, somewhere along life’s little path it has planned out for me, that I too may become a Cop.  And to all of the Cops out there.  Please....stay safe, stay sharp, and God Bless all of you!!!!

Real Life Ghost Hunters???

Ok, So here is a little bit of a funny story.

I am out working tonight, and i get a call of a couple of vehicles sitting in someones driveway.  They are not doing anything but just sitting there.  Well the owner of the home calls in to the Sheriffs Office and tells our dispatcher about the vehicles and gives the dispatcher a license plate number off of one of them.  I get out to the house and the vehicles are gone.  I speak with the home owners and find out the color of the vehicles.  One is a red Chevy car, and the other an older green pickup truck.  Well, i advise the home owners i will see if i can locate the vehicles. (which is a hard thing to do sometimes after they have already gotten a 10 minute head start on me.)

I had just got back to the Sheriffs Office when I get a medical call of an elder gal who had fell and busted either her hip or her leg. (Bless her heart.)  So i go out to the medical call.  Well, while i am there I set outside to let the medical units in the house to do their thing.  While I am outside, i happen to see a red chevy car and a older green pickup drive past the house........I think to myself..."there is no way these are the same vehicles. It is almost two hours later"  What do i do...I clear the medical and start to follow these two vehicles.  I get behind the red car and run the plate.....and can you believe it...same plate number the home owner gave me.  So i stop the car and as i get out the older green pickup starts to pull up, so like an idiot stand in the road and tell the driver of the pickup to pull over as well.  I speak to all the kids in the vehicles to figure out what the heck they are doing out there.  They are GHOST HUNTING!!!! WOW!!!!

They said they got on the internet and looked up areas that have ghosts....scary situation.....bunch of kids out ghost hunting at 2 in the morning...well from running their information one of the ghost busters ends up going to jail for a reason yet to be made known.  I advise the rest of the kids that it was probably in there best intrest to return home and put an end to the ghost hunt....Besides, i didn't need to have to arrest them for busting ghosts without a permit. And i am not sure, but I didn't see any equipment needed in this day and age to catch ghosts.  After all, it is my duty to serve and protect and i didn't want one of them getting beat up by them scary nasty ghosts out there.

I am thinking about calling the REAL GHOST BUSTERS and letting them know they now have some new recruits they may want to hire.   One was arrested because he just had to try and catch that last ghost.

Scary situation for all cops

I really hate Idaho weather

Well, I know this has been a long time coming. and for the very few people out there that tend to stop by and read my so called little blog now and then, I am sorry I have not kept up on this more.  So here goes a very looong story short......

As you may know about a year and a half ago I moved to Maui, Hawaii...great place to live.  I really liked it there and enjoyed the weather.  After 18 months of being there, times got hard from lack of work and didn't know how I was going to come up with rent money on top of every other freaking bill I had to pay. (And to all you bill collecters......Your check is in the mail.)  So I found out that the great County of Jefferson here in the state of Idaho was hiring again so I jumped on the plane and came out and tested.  I got the job and I am back out on the road again.  I really missed this line of work and am very grateful to everyone here for giving me the chance to come back.  The down side to all this......I CAME BACK IN THE MIDDLE OF FREAKING WINTER!!!!!

Not sure if anyone has been to Maui or not, but the weather there is perfect in everyway, all year round, all day long, everyday..So has you can guess...I am now freezing my ass off out here.  But I guess that is what I get for coming back at this time of year.

I am with my beautiful wife and two great kids here so at least we can all suffer together.  Christmas is just around the corner and I am looking forward to that.  Also I am going to try and stay up to date with this blog now that I am back so just look for more storys from the stupid people on here from time to time.

Good talking to all of you again and I hope everyone is cold.....(hey, you can't expect me to suffer alone can you?)  Take care and talk to you soon.
