November 08 A long time comingOk, I know I have gone months at a time without posting something on here, and I know nobody cares. But guess what, I care. I need to try and stay on top of this thing more, and I am going to make a goal to do just that. My beautiful wife has started a blog, and if anyone cares to see it, well just go ahead and take a look at it one day. She is also a co-writer I guess you could call her, on another blog. (I hope I have attached both of these blog sites to mine. if I messed up and didn't get them on there, and you want to see them. let me know)
A real quick rundown on what has happened. I am going to give you the Readers Digest version here. I continue to work for Jefferson County Sheriffs Office. And I was just put out in a new area. I am the new West Side Guy. (And the shoes I am filling are huge, and I hope I can compare to the West Side God 275 one day.) Alright there you have it, the short and sweet version.
So I was thinking one day, and maybe some of you can help answer this question for me...... What makes a Cop, a Cop? This is something I think all of us will share similar interests, but also have a different point of view. That is what I would like to hear from you. So really, what makes a Cop, a Cop? Let me share a little story with you about what made me want to do this and be a cop. A long long time ago, I was sitting next to one of my really good buddies, (who I have not talked to in a really long time, and I need to call him. you know who you are Alan) on a school bus. We were heading home from a day of learning. Well, the very last thing we had that day was a Hunters Ed teacher who came in and talked to us and told all of us that wanted to go to his class on what we needed to do. After he was done talking to us and as we were leaving for the day, he gave each of us a hunting magazine. Nothing great, just a regular magazine. As I was on the bus sitting next to my buddy, I was going page by page through said magazine, looking at all the cool pictures in it, and I came across a picture of a Cop. He was standing next to his patrol car. It was an ad for his hand gun. Again, nothing special. But to me, well, that was the most awesome thing I had seen. I had seen hand guns in the movies, but nothing ever like this one. I read what the ad said, the ad said that Law Enforcement Agencies where switching to this hand gun....I wanted that gun!!! And I knew the only way I was ever going to be able to have that gun was to become a Police Officer. That is where the fire started to burn inside of me.
So back to my question. What makes a Cop, a Cop? Is it the badge and gun? Is it the cool lights on top of his vehicle, or the cool uniforms? No!!! That is my answer. None of the above. To me, a Cop is someone who cares. Someone willing to go out day after day and put his life on the line for people he doesn't even know. A Cop is someone who is willing to work the long hours for the crappy pay. The sleepless nights because you just had to go and tell some parents that their baby boy or girl was in an accident and would not be coming home. A cop is someone willing to put certain values to the side for the benefit of everyone else around him. A cop is someone who is willing to have people hate him for doing what he does, and listen to them yell and curse him because they think it should be done a different way, all while not wearing his emotions on his sleeve and staying professional. A Cop is someone who is willing to run into a gun fight, knowing that he may not walk out of it, and may never see his wife/husband and kids again. The list goes on and on.
So to me, a Cop is not your everyday person. Cops, (don't get me wrong here, good Cops.) are a cut above the rest. I am not saying that Cops are better than anyone else, because they are not. Cops have their own problems they have to deal with and their own crosses to bear. What I am saying here, is Cops are a special type of person. I would like to hear your thoughts on it. What makes a Cop, a Cop to you? I only hope that one day, somewhere along life’s little path it has planned out for me, that I too may become a Cop. And to all of the Cops out there. Please....stay safe, stay sharp, and God Bless all of you!!!!
Deputy Fish December 31 Real Life Ghost Hunters???Ok, So here is a little bit of a funny story.
I am out working tonight, and i get a call of a couple of vehicles sitting in someones driveway. They are not doing anything but just sitting there. Well the owner of the home calls in to the Sheriffs Office and tells our dispatcher about the vehicles and gives the dispatcher a license plate number off of one of them. I get out to the house and the vehicles are gone. I speak with the home owners and find out the color of the vehicles. One is a red Chevy car, and the other an older green pickup truck. Well, i advise the home owners i will see if i can locate the vehicles. (which is a hard thing to do sometimes after they have already gotten a 10 minute head start on me.)
I had just got back to the Sheriffs Office when I get a medical call of an elder gal who had fell and busted either her hip or her leg. (Bless her heart.) So i go out to the medical call. Well, while i am there I set outside to let the medical units in the house to do their thing. While I am outside, i happen to see a red chevy car and a older green pickup drive past the house........I think to myself..."there is no way these are the same vehicles. It is almost two hours later" What do i do...I clear the medical and start to follow these two vehicles. I get behind the red car and run the plate.....and can you believe it...same plate number the home owner gave me. So i stop the car and as i get out the older green pickup starts to pull up, so like an idiot stand in the road and tell the driver of the pickup to pull over as well. I speak to all the kids in the vehicles to figure out what the heck they are doing out there. They are GHOST HUNTING!!!! WOW!!!!
They said they got on the internet and looked up areas that have ghosts....scary situation.....bunch of kids out ghost hunting at 2 in the morning...well from running their information one of the ghost busters ends up going to jail for a reason yet to be made known. I advise the rest of the kids that it was probably in there best intrest to return home and put an end to the ghost hunt....Besides, i didn't need to have to arrest them for busting ghosts without a permit. And i am not sure, but I didn't see any equipment needed in this day and age to catch ghosts. After all, it is my duty to serve and protect and i didn't want one of them getting beat up by them scary nasty ghosts out there.
I am thinking about calling the REAL GHOST BUSTERS and letting them know they now have some new recruits they may want to hire. One was arrested because he just had to try and catch that last ghost.
Deputy Scary Police Man. I really hate Idaho weatherWell, I know this has been a long time coming. and for the very few people out there that tend to stop by and read my so called little blog now and then, I am sorry I have not kept up on this more. So here goes a very looong story short......
As you may know about a year and a half ago I moved to Maui, Hawaii...great place to live. I really liked it there and enjoyed the weather. After 18 months of being there, times got hard from lack of work and didn't know how I was going to come up with rent money on top of every other freaking bill I had to pay. (And to all you bill collecters......Your check is in the mail.) So I found out that the great County of Jefferson here in the state of Idaho was hiring again so I jumped on the plane and came out and tested. I got the job and I am back out on the road again. I really missed this line of work and am very grateful to everyone here for giving me the chance to come back. The down side to all this......I CAME BACK IN THE MIDDLE OF FREAKING WINTER!!!!!
Not sure if anyone has been to Maui or not, but the weather there is perfect in everyway, all year round, all day long, everyday..So has you can guess...I am now freezing my ass off out here. But I guess that is what I get for coming back at this time of year.
I am with my beautiful wife and two great kids here so at least we can all suffer together. Christmas is just around the corner and I am looking forward to that. Also I am going to try and stay up to date with this blog now that I am back so just look for more storys from the stupid people on here from time to time.
Good talking to all of you again and I hope everyone is cold.....(hey, you can't expect me to suffer alone can you?) Take care and talk to you soon.
Deputy Frozen Nips. February 26 I wish you could...I wish you could comprehend a wife's horror at 6 in the morning as I I wish you could read my mind as I respond to a call, Is this a false I wish you could be in the emergency room, as a doctor pronounces I wish you could know the frustration I feel in the cab of the
....I wish you could though. January 18 PicturesWell, it is me again. Just wanted to let you all know that Maddog sent me some pictures (and yeah Mike I got them thanks.) I have added these pictures to the page so please feel free to take a look at them. I am in the process of getting a new video up as well. I am sure that video is old to everyone by now. Take it easy and see ya later.
Cpl. Fish January 12 Long TimeHello to everyone out there in blog land. Not sure really what to say here except for sorry for not doing anything new to this page in a very very long time. I have been slacking I know and I am sorry for that. There have been some changes in my life that some of you may already know about. But the majority of you probably do not know or do not care. One of the biggest changes in my life is I had to make one of the toughest decisions in my life....That was to leave the greatest place to work in the world. JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE!!!! I did not leave because I didn't like the work, or that it was to hard or anything like that. I left because I had to make a decision on what was more important to me...My Family or my job....I am sure you now know what I picked. I would go back to work at the Sheriffs Office in a heart beat if I knew I could afford to do so. But sadly at this time I can not. I had to give up everything that I worked so hard to achieve there, one of those things was my K9 Jenny. A very hard thing for me to do. At least I know she is in good hands with a good friend and fellow officer Mike (Maddog) Jensen. I know he will take care of her and I know he will keep me updated on everything she does.....(you better dog or I will be pissed and come back and beat that @$$) But the hardest thing for me to leave there was the friendships I had made while working there. I loved everyone I worked with. The best people you can imagine. I doubt I will ever be able to find other friends who can fill theirs shoes. So to Colt, Aaron, Randy, Brian, Steve, Lynn, Korin, Rico, Ponch, Miller, Maddog, Wolfe, everyone on Rigby P.D. and everyone else....I will truely miss all of you, I could name everyone but I am sure you do not want me to. But if any of you guys are reading this I miss all of you and stay safe and I look forward to coming back and working with you again one day.
Don't feel to bad for me though, I have gone to a better place.....No, not there. I have moved to Maui, Hawaii. Lucky me huh!?! And a little on the brighter side, I have just been informed that I will be joing the Maui Police Force very soon. I am looking forward to getting back out on the streets doing the only thing that I know how to do. So again please do not feel to bad for me that I left the Sheriffs Office. I am not missing the cold one little bit.
One last thing that has changed for me is the fact that I ended up breaking both of my elbows at the same time. Yes at the same time. I know that is hard to do but when I do something I do it big. ha ha ha. I have been out of work now for almost two months and it sucks. You think it wouldn't be that bad to be oout of work, but there is very little things you can do besides sit around in pain all day long cause you can't move you elbows without them hurting. I did not have to have any casts put on or any surgery....yet..but, I have had to do a lot of Physical Therapy to try and regain the range of motion in my arms. That has been fun yet a challenge. But as of now I am almost there to regaing everything back.
Well, there you have it. I gave you a little bit of info on me again and I will try and keep this page updated as much as I can now. I will be adding some pictures and that soon, and I look forward to hearing from everyone as well. Take Care and I will talk to you later.
Cpl. Fish April 14 The MarineThis is a poem being sent from a Marine to his Dad. For those who take the time to read it, you'll see a letter from him to his Dad at the bottom. It makes you truly thankful for not only the Marines, but ALL of our troops. THE MARINE We all came together, Both young and old To fight for our freedom, To stand and be bold. In the midst of all evil, We stand our ground, And we protect our country >From all terror around. Peace and not war, Is what some people say. But I'll give my life, So you can live the American way. I give you the right To talk of your peace. To stand in your groups, and protest in our streets. But still I fight on; I don't bitch; I don't whine. I'm just one of the people Who is doing your time. I'm harder than nails, Stronger than any machine. I'm the immortal soldier, I'm a U.S. MARINE! So stand in my shoes, And leave from your home. Fight for the people who hate you, With the protests they've shown. Fight for the stranger, Fight for the young. So they all may have The greatest freedom you've won. Fight for the sick; Fight for the poor. Fight for the cripple, Who lives next door. But when your time comes, Do what I've done. For if you stand up for freedom, You'll stand when the fight's done. By: Corporal Aaron M. Gilbert, US Marine Corps USS SAIPAN, PERSIAN GULF March 23, 2003 Hey Dad, Do me a favor and label this "The Marine" and send it to everybody on your email list. Even leave this letter in it. I want this rolling all over the US ; I want every home reading it. Every eye seeing it. And every heart to feel it. So can you please send this for me? I would but my email time isn't that long and I don't have much time anyway. You know what Dad? I wondered what it would be like to truly understand what JFK said in His inaugural speech. "When the time comes to lay down my life for my country, I do not cower from this responsibility. I welcome it!" Well, now I know. And I do. Dad, I welcome the opportunity to do what I do. Even though I have left behind a beautiful wife, and I will miss the birth of our first born child, I would do it 70 times over to fight for the place that God has made for my home. I love you all and I miss you very much. I wish I could be there when Sandi has our baby, but tell her that I love her, and Lord willing, I will be coming home soon. Give Mom a great big hug from me and give one to yourself too. Aaron Aaron was assasinated by an IRAQ soldier while he was on patrol with 2 days left after his Dad received this poem and letter Please let this Marine (and all our military) know we care by passing his poem onto your friends even if you don't usually take time to forward mail... do it this time! Thanks If this touched you as much as it touched me, please forward it on. Let's help Aaron's dad spread the word... FREEDOM isn't FREE .someone pays for you and me. "Life is a coin. You can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once." March 14 WARNING EXTREME VIDEO!!!!PLEASE DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN WATCH THIS VIDEO. IT IS A VERY EXTREME VIDEO. THANKS. CPL. FISH February 28 For the Military and PoliceAn Open Letter from Ben Stein 02/02/2007 Dear Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, National Guard, Reservists, in Iraq, in the Middle East theater, in Afghanistan, in the area near Afghanistan, in any base anywhere in the world, and your families: Let me tell you about why you guys own about 90 percent of the backbone in the whole world right now and should be happy with yourselves and proud of whom you are. It was a dazzlingly hot day here in Rancho Mirage today. I did small errands like going to the bank to pay my mortgage, finding a new bed at a price I can afford, practicing driving with my new 5 wood, paying bills for about two hours. I spoke for a long time to a woman who is going through a nasty child custody fight. I got e-mails from a woman who was fired today from her job for not paying attention. I read about multi-billion-dollar mergers in Europe, Asia, and the Mideast . I noticed how overweight I am, for the millionth time. In other words, I did a lot of nothing. Like every other American who is not in the armed forces family, I basically just rearranged the deck chairs on the Titanic in my trivial, self-important, meaningless way. Above all, I talked to a friend of more than forty-three years who told me he thought his life had no meaning because all he did was count his money. And, friends in the armed forces, this is the story of all of America today. We are doing nothing but treading water while you guys carry on the life or death struggle against worldwide militant Islamic terrorism. Our lives are about nothing: paying bills, going to humdrum jobs, waiting until we can go to sleep and then do it all again. Our most vivid issues are trivia compared with what you do every day, every minute, every second. Oprah Winfrey talks a lot about "meaning" in life. For her, "meaning" is dieting and then having her photo on the cover of her magazine every single month (surely a new world record for egomania). This is not "meaning." Meaning is doing for others. Meaning is risking your life for others. Meaning is putting your bodies and families' peace of mind on the line to defeat some of the most evil, sick killers the world has ever known. Meaning is leaving the comfort of home to fight to make sure that there still will be a home for your family and for your nation and for free men and women everywhere. Look, soldiers and Marines and sailors and airmen and Coast Guardsmen, there are six billion people in this world. The whole fate of this world turns on what you people, 1.4 million, more or less, do every day. The fate of mankind depends on what about 2/100 of one percent of the people in this world do every day and you are those people. And joining you is every policeman, fireman, and Emergency Medical Technician in the country, also holding back the tide of chaos. Do you know how important you are? Do you know how indispensable you are? Do you know how humbly grateful any of us who has a head on his shoulders is to you? Do you know that if you never do another thing in your lives, you will always still be heroes? That we could live without Hollywood or Wall Street or the NFL, but we cannot live for a week without you? We are on our knees to you and we bless and pray for you every moment. And Oprah Winfrey, if she were a size two, would not have one millionth of your importance, and all of the Wall Street billionaires will never mean what the least of you do, and if Barry Bonds hits hundreds of home runs it would not mean as much as you going on one patrol or driving one truck to the Baghdad airport. You are everything to us, as we go through our little days, and you are in the prayers of the nation and of every decent man and woman on the planet. That's who you are and what you mean. I hope you know that. Love, Ben Stein February 22 Chilling Police FightsOk here as some fights that police officers have been in. These videos can get pretty scary. This is just one other thing that we have to put it up everyday. Please understand that we are not out here to try and hurt people, we do our job and at times it calls for extreme force to be used. The next time you deal with law enforcemnt, if you are not a police officer or something of the sort, please give us some respect and understand we are only here to help!!! Cpl. Fish
February 17 Police chasesOk, You all have to take a look at this video. This is the type of stuff we have to put up with everyday. Some people hate the cops, but look at this video and see the type of crap we have to go through to help keep everyone safe. This video is amazing and yet at the same time gives me the chills, some of the crashes on it are amazing to see. Cpl. Fish
January 09 Family GuyAlright, well i hope this doesn't make anyone think any less of me here. But I love the show "Family Guy" on t.v. There have been some episodes where i have started to cry i was laughing so hard at it. I found this video clip on the internet of the voices of the show. Now you don't get to hear all of the voices, but most of them. The only one missing is Seth Green a.k.a. "Chris Griffin" But I thought it was cool to see who did all the voices for everyone else. Everyone does great with the voices. Seth MacFarlane is a real genius. And i must say he cracks me up in the show. So if your a fan of "Family Guy" Then you might like to see who does all the voices behind it. And if by any chance, anyone that works on the show happens to see this.......Keep up the great work.
Cpl. Fish December 07 Letterman is the bestOk, so if you are a fan of David Letterman. You will love what he does here to Richard Simmons. Richard is trying to talk about his new steamer, but, like always letterman is having fun. Listen to what he says to Richard while he is talking about the price of the steamer, and then watch what he does to make fun of him. you have to love it. I started crying when i first seen this.
Cpl. Fish. November 11 Police administrator tells the press how it is!!!!Ok, I was sent this in an email, and i loved it. Any police officer out there would. Just listen to what this administrator has to say to the press about the way they are reporting the death of a police officer. I agree 100% on what he is saying, and i hope that every admin out there for police are willing to back their guys like he is here. I work with a great admin, that does back us up on what we do as long as we were in the right. And there is nothing better then a coworker who has your back. Pass this video on if you like, no worries here. And may God watch over all of us brothers in blue. Cpl. Fish November 03 The Badge
He starts his shift each day He's paid by the citizens' taxes Now he doesn't know a holiday He's cursed and assaulted often, His friends are always other cops He knows there might not be a tomorrow And each day when he leaves for work, But tonight he stops a speeding car, Well, he walks up to the driver's window, Yes, the bullet hit its mark, So he lay on the ground bleeding. In the news they told the story Well, they buried him in uniform Written By: David L. Bell Richland County Sheriff's Department October 17 Ned calls the gay & lesbian channelOk everyone, you have to listen to this call. I know it is a fake, prank call, but it should get you laughing out there. So just sit back and listen to what good ole' boy "Ned" has to say about the new gay and lesbian channel that is about to go onto t.v. When i first heard it, i laughed so hard i started to cry it is great.
Cpl. Fish September 15 Numa Numa GuyHey there it is me again, just thought that i would write and see what was going on. Also i added the new Numa Numa video to my page, the first time i seen the old numa numa video i laughed so hard i was in tears, so i thought if any of you liked it, you might like the second, the song is a little better but the video is kinda lame, so sorry if you do not like it. let me know. Cpl. Fish August 27 Just a cop"Just A Cop"The funeral line was long,There's an awful lot of cars,Folks came out of the restaurants,They came out of the bars. The workers at the construction sitesAll let their hammers drop.Someone asked. "What is this all for?"And they said, "Aw, just a Cop."Some chuckled at the passing cars. Some shed a silent tearSome people said," It's stupid.""All these dumb policemen here.""How come they are not out fighting crime?""Or in a doughnut shop?""Sure is a lot of trouble,For someone who's just a Cop." They blocked the intersections,They blocked the interstate.People yelled and cursed,"Damn, it's gonna make me late!""This is really ridiculous!""They're makin' us all stop!""It seems they are sure wastin' time,On someone who's just a Cop." Into the cemetery now,The slow procession comes,The woeful Taps are slowly played. There's loud salutes from guns. The graveyard workers shake their heads"This service is a flop.""There's lots of good words wasted,On someone who's just a Cop" Yeah, just a Cop to most folks.Did his duty every day.Trying to protect us,Till they took his life away. And when he got to heaven,St. Peter put him at the top.An angel asked him, "Who was that?"And he said, "Aw, just a Cop." The Judgment: The Officer stood and faced his God,Which must always come to pass.He hoped his shoes were shinning,Just as brightly as his brass."Step forward now, Officer,How shall I deal with you?Have you always turned the other cheek? To my church have you been true?" The Officer squared his shoulder and said,"No, Lord, I guess I aint,Because those of us who carry badges can'talways be a saint. I've had to work most Sundays,And at times my talk was rough,And sometimes I've been violentBecause the streets are tough. But I never took a pennyThat wasn't mine to keep.Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep. And I never passed a cry for helpThough at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me,I've wept an unmanly tear.I know I don't deserve a placeamong the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear. If you've a place for me here, Lord,it needn't be so grand.I never expected or had too much,But if you don't...I'll understand. There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod.As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God. "Step forward now, Officer.""You've borne your burdens well.""Come walk a beat on heaven's streets,""You've done your time in Hell"
July 10 PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OFFENSE TO THIS!!!!A Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day he shocked the class when he came in, looked to the ceiling, and flatly stated, "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform! I'll give you exactly 15 minutes. The lecture room fell silent - you could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, "Here I am God. I'm still waiting." It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform. The professor was out cold. The Marine went back to his seat and sat there, silently. The other students were shocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, "What the hell is the matter with you? Why did you do that?" The Marine calmly replied, "God was too busy today protecting America's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid shit and act like an asshole. So He sent me." God bless our soldiers!!!!!!
